Get ready for a convergence of big changes
For 2012 your staff will need to learn dozens of changes to pharmacy HCPCS codes and how to make the correct code assignments. But thats just one facet of the big changes you will encounter when January 1 arrives. Among the others: a new cost threshold for separately payable drugs, new APC rates and new pressures on your bottom line due to drug shortages and escalating procurement costs. To help you prepare for the new coding and compliance challenges ahead, this webcast seminar offers the highly regarded insights of two prominent pharmacy reimbursement authorities, Gary Fong and Randy Wiitala. We strongly recommend this session for pharmacy directors, as well as for your revenue cycle/revenue integrity and chargemaster teams. Highlights:
- Guidance with 2012 HCPCS code changes specific to pharmacy, including new, revised and discontinued codes
- What will happen with payments in 2012, including new APC rates, the new Medicare cost threshold for separately payable drugs and which drugs will no longer qualify for payment
- Side-by-side comparisons of 2011 versus 2012 Medicare payments for high-profile drugs
- Understanding and adapting to key regulatory trends, including the growing pressure by CMS to strengthen the accuracy and precision of drug code assignments and charges
- How to reduce the risk of claim denials by avoiding common pitfalls, including lack of medical necessity, incorrect code assignments, billing unit errors, incorrect billing of self-administered drugs and lack of prior authorization
- 2012 update on RAC and other recovery initiatives, especially the scrutiny of claims for high-volume and high-cost drugs
- Best practices refresher for ensuring accurate assignments, starting with the set-up of your chargemaster and continuing through file maintenance and validating the accuracy of NDC dose forms, route of administration and other key data
