Grey areas and coding confusion persists for non-invasive diagnostic radiology services—like nuclear medicine, PET/CT, MRI, MRA, CT, and CTA, ultrasound, duplex exams, plain film radiography, and mammography. Although CPT® coding guidelines are often more logical for these areas than they are for interventional radiology services, there's still a need for clarification and guidance.

This webcast will usher you through the maze of odd descriptions; inclusive/exclusive language; unacceptable codes; and hard-to-decipher CCI edits, MUEs and MAIs and more. You'll learn the subtle words and language that allow or negate multi-code assignments for the same patient at the same encounter or on the same date of service. To illustrate and emphasize these issues, final, dictated reports will be used to highlight strengths and areas for improvement regarding coding and billing.

Why This Matters:

This session will focus on a wide range of topics addressing areas that are frequently performed but traditionally overlooked, which results in increased risk for inaccurate coding and reimbursement. The possible results are large-scale over- and underpayments, as well as audit risks. Touching upon CPT changes, CCI edits, and CMS regulations, you will walk away with a better grasp on rules and options for these diagnostic radiology services.

What's on the Agenda:

  • Discussion of problematic areas in diagnostic radiology from a coding and reimbursement perspective. Topics include:
    • Nuclear medicine
    • PET/CT
    • CT and CTA
    • MRI and MRA
    • Ultrasound
    • Non-invasive vascular services (duplex exams)
    • Plain film radiography, including coding guidelines for x-rays of the spine, pelvis, and hips
    • Mammography
  • Guidance with identifying and assigning CPT and HCPCS options for services and "who" requires "what"
  • Understand CCI edits and narrative instructions and their impact on diagnostic radiology services
  • Identify key points within documentation to arrive at the correct code selection.

*The five complimentary case studies will automatically be added to your order and sent separately from the webcast series once your order has been fulfilled.
