Description

Some of the most challenging coding you assign is to congestive heart failure, debridement and dehydration procedures. Between documentation, test results and AHA coding guidelines, its easy to misinterpret and make mistakes. The errors can affect reimbursement and retrospective review.

In this 3-part series youll take a close look at proper ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding for congestive heart failure, excisional debridement and dehydration to reduce your RAC exposure.

Hosted by Jean Ann Hartzell-Minzey, RHIA, CPC, CHA, in each session you will:

  • Learn to interpret and understand physician documentation so you can assign the correct principal diagnosis and codes
  • Address common deficiencies such as incomplete or conflicting documentation
  • Identify key query opportunities
  • Receive instruction on ICD-9 to ICD-10 code assignments

Sign up for the series to expand your knowledge and increase your coding confidence.

About our presenter
This webcast is presented by Jean Ann Hartzell-Minzey, CEO & Chairman of the Board of Healthcare Education Strategies, Inc., a national consulting firm headquartered in Prairieville, La. Ms. Hartzell-Minzey actively develops systems and innovative programs for healthcare leaders and trainers. Her approach towards ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS reflects her clinical knowledge and her understanding of reimbursement methodologies. Her sessions provide the building blocks to transition to ICD-10, help decrease RAC exposure, and enhance ICD-9-CM coding. She looks at ICD-10 training in a purposeful and practical way with the goal of providing functional education for measurable improvement. Ms. Hartzell-Minzey was the recipient of the American Health Information Management Associations Pioneer Award for Quality Assurance in 1989.
