Finally, you can put those questions to rest!

Throughout the year, MedLearn radiology consulting experts are peppered with questions about coding and billing for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) and magnetic resonance venography (MRV). Questions such as: When can we bill for both MRI and MRA, and what documentation do we need? Can we bill twice for MRA and MRV? and Can we bill twice when we perform an MRI of the femur and the tibia/fibula? As a special courtesy to customers like you, we have developed a webcast seminar that is devoted to shedding a bright light on this very confusing area of medicine. Highlights:

  • MRI vs. MRA and MRA vs. MRV when is it appropriate to code for only one or for both?
  • Coding guidelines for specific MR protocols/exams and contrast materials
  • The proper use of modifier -59 when reporting multiple services
  • Common mistakes, such as coding separately for MR arteriography and MR venography of the brain
  • Supporting your code assignments with documentation that spells out the type of MR procedure, whether or not contrast was used, medical necessity for multiple exams and more
