Timely tactics and tips from a top PET coding expert
We hardly need to tell you how notoriously difficult it can be to code for PET studies…or about the high Medicare denial rate for PET claims. Here’s a bit of real news — and great news at that: MedLearn has arranged to bring you a special webcast seminar presented by one of the country’s foremost PET coding and billing experts, Denise Merlino, MBA, CNMT, FSNMTS, CPC. Besides detailing actionable steps for preventing claim denials, Ms. Merlino will share information to help you make the most of new opportunities, including CMS’s expanded coverage for PET bone imaging. Highlights:
- A review of the ever-changing CMS coverage policies for PET procedures and what they may mean for your facility
- Clarification of especially confusing areas, such as billing Medicare for PET and PET/CT evaluations of patients with solitary or multiple pulmonary nodules
- A new revenue opportunity — correct coding and billing practices to ensure the full, proper payment under the expanded coverage for PET bone imaging
- Examples of what Medicare contractors are approving or denying for payment and where to go for specifics on your contractor
- Why you may not get paid for your Medicare claims — avoiding common mistakes, such as submitting claims for non-covered studies
- A Q&A session, time permitting — your opportunity to get answers to the most frequently asked questions
