Reduce your risk of under- or overpayment

For ultrasound providers, capturing the correct payment is proving to be more elusive than ever as coders and billing departments struggle with a host of complexities and questions, among them: How to properly code and append modifier -59 for diagnostic ultrasound procedures when performed prior to or with interventional procedures, and, perhaps most challenging of all, producing the documentation required to support CPT procedure code and modifier assignments. From this MedLearn webcast seminar, you will take away a clearer understanding of what is expected of hospitals and physician practices that depend on revenue from ultrasound services. Highlights:

  • Which 70000 series CPT codes to appropriately assign when diagnostic ultrasound is performed with percutaneous surgery or an interventional procedure in the same encounter
  • Modifier -59 when it should and should not be used; includes discussion of the modifiers overuse and underuse, coupled with the payment and compliance consequences
  • Physician documentation arriving at the correct interpretation and knowing when to query physicians for additional detail or clarification
  • Resolving common areas of confusion, such as:
    • Documentation and coding for complete vs. limited exams
    • Coding for breast procedures and obstetric vs. non-obstetric exams
    • Assigning the correct revenue code to a CPT procedure code
    • Reporting a CPT code more than once for a single encounter
    • Using bundled codes for echocardiography
  • Case examples from actual medical records, to reinforce key coding, modifier usage and documentation requirements
