How well you understand the venous system can influence your coding accuracy and consistency. This webcast helps build your anatomy and physiology proficiency so you can code with confidence under ICD-9 and the more detailed levels of ICD-10.

Youll learn about the unique coding categories within ICD-9 and how physician documentation will influence ICD-10. For example, ICD-10 venous insufficiency is described as: right, left, upper and lower extremity. ICD-10 identifies anatomic division between upper and lower veins.

Webcast host Jean Ann Hartzell-Minzey, RHIA, CPC, CHA, will help you:

  • Expand your knowledge of the venous system
  • Master key components of anatomy and physiology to support classification assignment
  • Identify anatomic and physiologic keys that affect AHA Coding Clinic Guidelines, RAC denials and physician documentation variances
  • Increase your coding accuracy under ICD-9 and prepare for the transition to ICD-10

This is webcast #1 in a 3-part Anatomy & Physiology Coding series.

About our presenter
This webcast is presented by Jean Ann Hartzell-Minzey, CEO & Chairman of the Board of Healthcare Education Strategies, Inc., a national consulting firm headquartered in Prairieville, La. Ms. Hartzell-Minzey actively develops systems and innovative programs for healthcare leaders and trainers. Her approach towards ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS reflects her clinical knowledge and her understanding of reimbursement methodologies. She implemented one of the first DRG systems in the country, and educated 280 members of the medical staff. Her sessions provide the building blocks to transition to ICD-10, help decrease RAC exposure, and enhance ICD-9-CM coding. She looks at ICD-10 training in a purposeful and practical way with the goal of providing functional education for measurable improvement. Ms. Hartzell-Minzey was the recipient of the American Health Information Management Associations Pioneer Award for Quality Assurance in 1989. As a Certified Healthcare Auditor, she is proficient in the critical areas of audit compliance and national standards for auditing as established by the American Society for Quality (ASQ), consistent with methodologies used by CMS and the OIG. She works with many facility types and has provided more than 3,600 educational programs in the areas of coding, reimbursement and compliance for healthcare entities and associations throughout the U.S.
