Outpatient infusion therapy continues to challenge coders and billing departments and it wont get any easier in 2013. Before you forge ahead into the new year, plan to spend 90 minutes with our outpatient infusion services documentation and coding authorities, Robin Miller Zweifel and Susan Howe. Through their expert analysis and interpretation, you will gain essential knowledge to help ensure the correct payment, full regulatory compliance, and a reduced risk of auditor action. Highlights:

  • Special focus on AMA clarification of the different coding hierarchies for hospital outpatient versus physician office settings
  • What the auditors (RACs, OIG, etc.) will likely be targeting in 2013, accompanied by steps to minimize your risks
  • Specific compliance issues that will confront your facility in 2013, including: Documentation related to time, route, site and flushes
    • Single versus mixed solutions
    • Concurrent versus sequential treatment
    • Local and national coverage determinations
    • Medical necessity
    • Coding hierarchy
    • Hydration
    • Chemotherapy
  • Case examples to reinforce the rules for particularly challenging areas, such as hydration (billable or non-billable?) and outpatient transfers from the ED to observation status
